Loft Design

In the old center of Leidschendam there is a beautifully renovated loft on the top floor of an apartment complex. This loft consists of three floors: the living floor, the bedroom floor and the attic. The living floor is a spacious open space with many windows, a central staircase and double ceiling height at the mezzanine. A space with a lot of potential, which was not used before the renovation. The new interior of the living floor is entirely designed by ‘Stefania Rastellino interior design’.

Living room with green oasis and cat wall

The design focused on creating an attractive and functional layout. We transformed the staircase into a green oasis full of plants, which gives the room a lively appearance. Also, we embellished the void at the mezzanine with large lamps and a ‘cat wall‘, which draws attention to the double height of the space. In addition, we built a custom-made kitchen with direct access to the roof terrace. For the remaining open space, we designed four separate sitting areas: the dining area, conversation area, TV area and games corner. These seating areas and the kitchen have been carefully designed to meet not only the needs of the residents but also those of their pets, namely a cat and three dogs.

In the center of the living room is a large pipe shaft, which is encased by custom cabinets and planters; As a result, we transformed it from an obstacle into a functional element that offers a smart storage solution and also divides the open space into the four different area’s.

The cabinets are made of HPL material in a medium-dark oak color, which is also used in the kitchen and near the entrance.

Under the mezzanine, a bioethanol fireplace is integrated into the compartment cupboard, which adds extra warmth and cosiness to the conversation corner.

The staircase has been renewed with a black finish and a glass balustrade, making it seem to float above a stage full of exotic plants. The ‘cat wall’ consists of floating planks and a custom-made cat pole, which allows the cat to move and play from the bedroom floor to the living floor.

Kitchen design with rounded corners

We redesigned the kitchen layout in order to improve the accessibility to the roof terrace and the amount of nature light. We did this by adding a central kitchen island and a glass door to the roof terrace. The high cupboards are extended to the entrance hall, creating more storage space. Innovative solutions, such as pocket doors between the oven and fridge, make it possible to provide extra workspace while keeping the kitchen neat and tidy. The drinking bowls for the dogs are integrated in one of the base cabinets and the induction hob on the island is invisible. INVISIBLE?? Almost. If you look closely at the counter top, you can see something. Have you spotted it yet?
